FAFSA - Collecting Parent Information – Futuristic approach

Latest modification declared for filing FAFSA in 2014-2015 proclaim that independent students need to include details of their legal parents. They may be biological or adoptive, married or unmarried and irrespective of the gender. In case they are staying together their details are supposed to be updated on the FAFSA information form.  This was not the case in the recent past. In case the parents were unmarried only one parent was included on the FAFSA filing options.

These changes are made keeping in mind the benefits of precise calculation of federal student aid eligibility which will be a accurate outcome of student's whole family contribution. It will also ensure that the dollars paid by taxpayers will be utilized towards benefit of those students who are in uttermost need of Financial Aid.
